PSG Overcomes Olympique de Marseille via Spot-Kicks to Claim French Super Cup in Kuwait.

Trophy celebration scene

PSG has now won the prestigious trophy on fourteen different times.

The Parisian giants needed a dramatic leveler followed by a successful penalty shootout to overcome their arch-rivals in the Gulf and secure a record-extending fourth consecutive French Super Cup victory.

The Champions League holders appeared to be sailing towards a comfortable triumph in the match between the Ligue 1 winners and the Coupe de France winners after the French winger opened the net in the opening stages.

However, Marseille struck twice late to seize a shock advantage. Initially, the English forward scored from the penalty spot, before Willian Pacho unfortunately directed the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a breathtaking twist of fortune, the Portuguese striker snatched a vital leveler in the final moments to force the match into a deciding shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Chevalier then emerged as the hero, saving decisive attempts from O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

In the shootout, Ramos, Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, and the young talent all converted successfully for PSG to seal a 4-1 shootout victory.

Now 14-time champions PSG, who met last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Olympique de Marseille after achieving a domestic double, have now lifted this trophy for the twelfth time in the last 13 years.
